As a nationally prominent, award-winning radio programmer and veteran local musician, Tom is uniquely connected and qualified to serve the Buffalo Music Hall of Fame.Schuh is best-known as the program director of WHTT-FM/AM (Oldies 104) from 1989-2000, when it became one of the highest-rated Oldies-format stations in the United States.  Tom is also a guitarist, singer, songwriter, and has been a member of several popular Western New York bands including the Midnight Kings, Soul Barons, House Band, Announcers, and The Carl Motyka Band. 

Schuh was born in Buffalo, New York, and attended high school at St. Joseph’s Collegiate Institute. He graduated summa cum laude with a degree in Mass Communication from St. Bonaventure University. In 2014, Schuh was inducted into the St. Bonaventure Radio (WSBU/WOFM/WSBC) Hall of Fame. 

Tom’s professional radio credits include: WZIR, WGRQ, WGR, WPHD, WHTT, WBEN, WKBW, and WECK. During his stint as Program Director at WHTT, the station was consistently ranked among the highest-rated stations in Buffalo and among its format contemporaries nationally. 

Tom was honored as Pyramid Broadcasting PD of the year, and Pyramid Buffalo Employee of the Year. In 1991-1992, Radio & Records ranked WHTT as the #1 Oldies station in the United States.

Schuh produced three nationally recognized “Rock and Roll Radio Reunions” for WHTT. These events featured national music acts and the return of many legendary Buffalo radio personalities to the Western New York airwaves. Schuh acted as public address announcer for the Buffalo Sabres from 1990-1996 at Memorial Auditorium. 

During the 1990s and 2000s, he also provided music programming for the Sabres and their partners at what is now First Niagara Center, as well as marketing support, in-arena announcements and game production services. In 1998, Schuh was the radio host for Buffalo Sabres network broadcasts and managed the Sabres and Buffalo Bills radio networks for the Mercury Radio Group from 1997-2000. 

Schuh began playing guitar and writing songs at age 14. He formed the popular classic-rock band The Announcers in 1990 along with fellow Buffalo radio veterans Larry “The Bear” McFarland and John LaMond.  In 2008, after a stint with The Carl Motyka Band, he reunited with McFarland to form the Soul Barons. 

Schuh currently preforms with the Midnight Kings, an acoustic and electric classic-rock band. Schuh is the founder and President of Bridget’s Battle Foundation,  which produces musical benefits for Roswell Park Cancer Institute. The foundation has raised over $65,000 since 2010.
