ED BENTLEY - BMHOF CLASS OF 2008
How does someone from Sweet Home High School end up in the Rockabilly Hall of Fame? Ed grew up loving the sounds of rock and roll which were based on Rockabilly in the mid 1950’s. His rock group in the 1960’s, the Tunerockers, performed their hit record, “The Green Mosquito” on Dick Clark’s American Bandstand, but he kept on playing and writing his own music which led him to Nashville and Memphis recording studios – the Mecca of rockabilly music.
His return to Buffalo in 1969 saw the opening of Ed Bentley Music and the hiring of a fine staff which included future BMHOF member Scott Freilich.
The National Rockabilly Hall of Fame took notice of his musical body of work in 2004 and rewarded those years of effort by inducting him. Ed has recorded a number of successful rockabilly albums of his own music and his lasted CD is on the charts in Europe and Australia today.
Since Ed’s induction to the Buffalo Music Hall of Fame in 2008, he was inspired to jump back in the music business, and continues writing songs for artists, and currently writes Instrumentals for Film and TV in his home studio.
His instrumentals have appeared on many Cable Network shows, including, American Pickers, Pawn Stars, Dance Moms,
17 Kids and Counting, and numerous other popular shows..
One of his rockabilly songs, “Dance Bop a Shoo Bop” has recently been chosen for the soundtrack of a new movie,
Debt Collector 2, appearing on Amazon Prime…..
Also a nice surprise, Ed was thrilled to find out, one of his instrumentals appeared on the NBC Network hit show,
"The Voice", two years in a row!
"It's all fun, however, my goal is still, to write a hit Country Song for maybe, Vince Gill"? I am proud and happy for my success, but what thrill that would be"!!
