MIKE COX - BMHOF CLASS OF 1991

Multiple award-winning rock & roll drummer Mike Cox was a driving force behind some of the most-popular Western New York club bands of the late 1980s and early 1990s.

Cox’s list of drumming credits included the bands Incognito, Rock Candy, The Beez, 33 West, White Lies, September's All-Star Band, and the Andy Taylor Show.

Mike was celebrated for his powerful and dynamic drumming, recording an album with the North Tonawanda High School Jazz Band, and several cassette releases with 33 West and White Lies.

As a member of 33 West, he won consecutive Buffalo Music Awards as Top Rock Drummer in 1988, 1989, and 1990. 33 West played an eclectic mix of rock, ska, and reggae, and regularly performed energetic live shows at Buffalo venues like Nietzsche's and Club Infinity.

After receiving those BMA honors, Cox was inducted into the Buffalo Music Hall of Fame in 1991.

Sadly, Mike Cox passed away in 2019.
