BERNIE KUGEL - BMHOF CLASS OF 2012

Bernie Kugel is the Godfather of the Buffalo punk scene in the 70's and 80's, performing with the bands Mystic Eyes and The Good. Born in New York City, Bernie came to Buffalo in the mid-70s to attend Buffalo State College. During that time, he wrote for many rock fanzines both here and on the burgeoning NYC Punk scene. 

He hosted a radio show at Buffalo State College and helped promote the first punk rock show in Buffalo - the infamous Ramones/Dictators show at the Buffalo State Social Hall in 1977.

Bernie founded Big Star Magazine and #1 Records and released some of the earliest New Wave records. In the late Seventies he formed the band The Good, which included at one time or another Dee Pop, Dave Meinzer, Bob Kozak, film actor Vincent Gallo and many others.

Later Bergie formed Mystic Eyes who were signed to Get Hip Records, releasing two albums which enjoyed airplay in France, England, Australia, Japan and in the States. He has also worked with the legendary Ronnie Spector. Bernie's work is still being used today. His song "Girl You're on my Mind" was recorded by The Cynics and used in the A&E Network program Parking Wars.
