LINDA LOU SCHRIVER - BMHOF CLASS OF 2013

Linda Lou Schriver - From Country music royalty. She is a multi- instrumentalist, singer and songwriter. 

Linda Lou Schriver has spent most of her life as part of her parents’ Family Band, “WNY’s 1st Family of Country Music”, “The Ramblin’ Lou Family Band”, playing featured dates in Wheeling, WV; Nashville, TN; Branson, Mo, and throughout Western New York and Pennsylvania. Since the mid-70’s, she has been the regular bass player and vocalist in the group on numerous television and radio shows. 

Upon graduating from high school, Linda decided to expand her musical horizons and was accepted in the Eastman School of Music, majoring in string bass and electronic bass. For the next four years, she kept up the hectic schedule of symphony concerts (appearing at Carnegie Hall, Heinz Hall, John F. Kennedy Performing Arts Center), making regular appearances on “Jamboree USA” – WWVA inWheeling WV, making appearances with her Family Band, and recorded her first single record.

While completing her last year at Eastman School of Music, Linda began to sing jingles and commercials for radio & TV, including Eastman Kodak, Adirondack Soft Drink, Bausch & Lomb, Tops and many others. Linda has had four years of formal training in classical music, in addition to her lifetime country background. 

Linda has been an opening act for many top county artists including Reba McEntire, George Straight, BoxCar Willie, Loretta Lynn, Charlie Pride, Mel Tillis, George Jones, Brenda Lee, Crystal Gayle, Lee Greenwood and the list goes on. 

For more than 15 years, Linda participated at fan Fair in Nashville, TN (now called “CMA Music Fest”), meeting people from the U.S. and abroad, while building a fan club of members from nearly every state and many countries. She has been a featured performer on “Jamboree USA”, for 25 years. She recorded her first album in the mid-eighties in Nashville, TN, featuring the classic, “Anytime”. In March 1994, Linda Lou and her sister, Lynn Carol Schriver, were signed to national record label, Broadland Int’l Records, in Nashville, TN. The combined project is entitled, “Double Shot of Country”, and contains seven songs by Linda and six by Lynn. It was featured throughout the U.S., Canada, and overseas including Wales & Denmark. 

Linda’s lifelong love of country music rings true in everything she does. She resides in Buffalo, NY with her husband of twenty-five years, and daughter Crista Marie. Linda is currently Office Manager & Sales Executive for her family radio station, WXRL-AM 1300, “Classic Country”. Linda and her family have performed for 55 consecutive years at the Erie County Fair in August of 2019.

 It can be said that from the day Linda Lou was old enough to walk out on stage she won the audience over and never looked back. Linda Lou Schriver is a musical treasure that has been a large part of the WNY musical heritage and is most deserving to be a member of the Buffalo Music Hall of Fame.
